Amethyst, Treasure of the Earth, is a new ore added within Explorercraft.
Generation[]
Amethyst Ore can be found naturally spawning in all biomes of the overworld below y=40. The ore is less common than iron, but isn't too hard to find if you go caving. The distinctive purple hue is hard to miss.
Amethyst can also spawn as a loot item in chests, found throughout the world. In these chests, you can also find its corresponding Horse Armor.
Tools[]
Amethyst can be used to make any vanilla tool in the game. In mining speed, amethyst tools are indistinguishable from Iron ones. They are much more durable, however, so they are a good mid-game investment.

Amethyst armor is very slightly stronger than Iron armor, but is considerably more durable.
